ZANE TAYLOR

For rapper/songwriter Zane Taylor, music is everything. Always will be. Born to a artistic family of musicians, singers, painters, hippies and teachers, but raised in culturally diverse neighborhoods of Los Angeles, Zane’s music never fails to push genre boundaries, blending his family’s small-town artistic backgrounds with the rawness of his urban surroundings. Though he played piano growing up and wrote the occasional terrible song for a girl, it’s through hip hop that Zane found his artistic voice.

Growing up between mid city and the valley, and attending elementary school in South Central, Zane was especially drawn to the cultures of his neighbors, as they opened him to a freer kind of creative expression than he’d experienced learning music at home, and he was blessed with a unique class of role models. Watching local artists like Nipsey Hussle and Tyler, the Creator go from friends of friends to globally-recognized generational leaders, Zane found more relatable ways to chase his dreams in music. Now, years later, he is a co-founder of an independent artist collective, Planet Love, that seeks to follow Nipsey’s “All Money In” (community for the community) legacy, an artist with 5A Label, a part-time LSAT tutor, and most recently an independent microgreens farmer with Planet Love Greens. It’s all of the above for Zane.
